My children have shown me that dental floss doesn't have to be just for your teeth. The next time your kids tell you that they are bored, just give them a roll of dental floss and see what creative ideas they come up with. I have added a few of my favorites to help get you started.
1. Customize your Closet
Take all of your hanging clothes out of the closet and throw them in the floor. Take a very long piece of floss (the whole roll works best) and string it in your closet taking time to wrap it many times in various places. Next, using paper clips and your mom's earrings, hang every small gadget that you can find in your house from the dental floss. Not only does this add flair and pizazz to your closet, it can also provide hours of entertainment for the cat.2. Set a "Trip Wire"
This is the most fun when you use an adult's bedroom. Using a lot of dental floss, tie one piece around the bottom of the bed and the other piece to a dresser leg. Most adults really appreciate this because it gives them a chance to have a close up view of the floor, something that they normally don't have time for.3. Booby Trap the Mailbox
Using a whole roll of dental floss, booby trap the mailbox so that it is impossible to open.This is much more exciting when you spread skateboards, bicycles, scooters and other yard obstacles across your walk.
Be sure to do this on a Saturday, when you will be at home to watch the mail person try to come to your front door.
4. Make a Fun Cat Toy
Find the cat's favorite toy and tie it to one end of the dental floss. Tie the other end to the dog's collar. This takes minimal effort and will provide hours and hours of entertainment for you and much needed exercise for the dog.5. Organize your Barbie Dolls
Take 20 or 30 barbie dolls and pull their heads off. Next, tie each head to a piece of dental floss. After you have all of the heads tied to a piece of floss, hang them in your mom's closet. This usually works best at night so that she can see them first thing in the morning. She will be delighted that you have finally found somewhere to put your dolls.11 March 2006
