Definition: In dentistry, crown has two definitions:

(1) Custom-made covering that fits over your whole tooth after the dentist has prepared it. A crown is usually made out of porcelain that has been fused to metal to withstand biting pressure.

(2) The anatomical crown is the top portion of the tooth above the gum line.
