Glossary Definition of Dental Term - Impacted Tooth

Definition: An impacted tooth is a tooth that is all the way or partially below the gum line and is not able to erupt properly. Wisdom teeth (third molars) are the most commonly impacted teeth. Teeth that are impacted usually have to be removed by an oral surgeon.
